New Rattitude’s 2026 Calendar Photo Contest is Now Closed.

A sneak peek at calendar pages will also be published on that day, and we’ll begin to take calendar pre-orders!

Entries for New Rattitude’s 2026 calendar photo contest are being accepted September 15-30, 2025!
Winning photos will be featured in New Rattitude’s seventeenth annual calendar, which will be on sale in mid-October.
100% of the proceeds from the photo contest and calendar sales will go toward the rescue and care of needy rat terriers.
Contest Rules
Photos must be of purebred rat terriers or close mixes. They don’t have to be rescue dogs but let us know if they are! Submissions must include one or more rat terriers – no humans may be in the photograph.
Photo Guidelines
Photos must be digital and horizontally oriented (wider than tall).
Photos should be in .jpg or .tif format and have a resolution of 300 ppi (pixels per inch) or dpi (dots per inch) at 11″ x 8.5″. If you are not sure if your photo meets these criteria, try printing it out at that size. It should print crisp and clear with good details, and should not look blurry, jagged or pixelated.
Photos should not contain any text.
Commercially reproduced photos and photos by professionals will not be accepted.
Entry Form and Entry Fees
Submit your contest entries with our online Calendar Photo Contest Entry Form.
The entry fee is $2.00 per submission, or $5.00 for three photo submissions, $10.00 for six photo submissions, etc.
Picture Taking Suggestions
Set your digital camera to the highest quality setting.
If using a smart phone, hold your phone horizontally when taking your photos and save as original or “actual” size.
Avoid distracting, unattractive backgrounds (e.g., unmade bed, trash cans, etc.!).
Outdoor pictures with natural lighting reproduce the best.
If taken indoors, photograph the dog in a brightly lit room with a light-colored background.
Use the red-eye function on your flash if applicable.
Don’t submit blurry pictures – we won’t be able to consider them.
Capture the rattie spirit! Take pictures of your rat terrier doing what they love most – running, jumping, hunting, sleeping in the sun, etc.
Judging and Prizes
Photos will be judged by the New Rattitude Rat Terrier Rescue Calendar Committee panel of judges.
Winners will be announced on October 15, 2025.
Winning entries will each be individually featured as a full page photo or in a themed collage page in New Rattitude’s 2026 calendar, and those contestants will also receive a free calendar!
The top three prize-winning photos will also win an assortment of prizes!
Grand Prize: 4″ custom felted Rat Terrier sculpture, New Rattitude cap, and a 2025 calendar. Total value $165.00!
Second Prize: Ring Indoor Pet Camera, New Rattitude T-Shirt, and a 2025 calendar. Total value $94.00!
Third Prize: New Rattitude fleece vest, duck dog toy, Rat Terrier decal, and a 2025 calendar. Total value $67.00!
